Darby is one of ten puppies—Allie’s littermates—born beneath a house, surrounded by dirt and darkness, their little bodies weakened by malnutrition and parasites. Without intervention, their future was grim.

But that all changed when a DARS volunteer stepped in and rescued the entire litter. With care, nourishment, and time, they began to thrive.

Darby, like his sister Allie, was adopted into a loving family where he quickly bonded with his young human companion. They’ve been growing up together ever since—sharing adventures, naps, and the kind of bond that shapes a childhood.

Teaching children to love and care for animals is one of the greatest life lessons, and Darby’s story is a beautiful reminder of how rescue goes both ways.
