Nubs’ Happy Tail: Bobtail Kitten Finds His Perfect Florida Home
Nubs’ Happy Tail
Nubs, a mischievous little bobtail kitten, arrived just when he was needed most. After losing several kittens, his foster mom was hesitant, worried that bringing home another young cat would only bring more heartbreak. But Nubs was older—and she knew that if she didn’t take him, he’d be sent back to a tough situation with little hope.
More than anything, she needed to prove to herself that she wasn’t to blame for her past losses. What she found was that Nubs was a true breath of fresh air. The best word for him? Rapscallion! Nubs was always into something, instigating a little trouble, making silly faces, pestering the family dog, or simply entertaining himself with antics that kept everyone laughing. He brought back the joy and confidence his foster mom feared she’d lost.
While she wasn’t in a rush to find Nubs a new home, sometimes the right family comes along at just the right moment. When she saw that his adoption application was from Florida, she laughed—“What, they don’t have cats in Florida?” But a phone conversation with Dirk and Cindy changed everything. Having loved a bobtail before, they understood the breed’s unique, playful nature, and they were willing to drive all the way from Florida to North Mississippi to make Nubs part of their family.
The foster mom did her research and, moved by their dedication and experience, decided to waive the usual home visit. Nubs made the journey to Florida and quickly made himself at home, joining his dog sibling on adventures and even going on a road trip in a specially designed kitty condo. Now, the updates she receives show Nubs helping dad around the house or cuddling up with his canine companion.
When she asked about his big trip, his new family’s response was simple: “Well, we couldn’t leave our Nubs.” That’s the kind of love every foster hopes for—and the happy ending every cat deserves.
